Broadway Star to Direct Les Miserables at Center Stage

ivan

Westport’s Center Stage Theatre Company has engaged Broadway’s Ivan Rutherford to
direct the school version of  “Les Miserables” during their 2008 season, the company announced.
Rutherford, who for six years portrayed Jean Valjean, the chief protagonist of Victor Hugo’s
1862 novel, on Broadway, recently returned to the Broadhurst Theater to reprise his role.
“We’re absolutely thrilled,” said Jill Jaysen, Center Stage’s founder and artistic director. “This
is going to be an amazing experience for everyone involved.” Auditions for “Les Mis” will be held in February. For further information or to schedule an audition, contact Center Stage at 203-341-9659.
Center Stage was recently awarded the 2007 Moss Hart Memorial Award from the New England
Theatre Conference for its original musical, “Intervention – A Teen Musical Comedy.”
